What did you do in 2012 that you’d never done before?
Online photography course. Fired a .338 Lapua target rifle. Ate a raw oyster. Drove while pulling a trailer. Traveled to Washington, D.C. Attended 10-year high school reunion. Chaperoned a middle school dance. Saw Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan in concert. Hosted a blog link-up on 12.12.12. Got paid for photography session.

Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Yes and yes. I accomplished some and made another list for 2013.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, except a cousin announced her pregnancy.

Did anyone close to you die?

What countries did you visit?
Haiti and a part of the U.S. that I had never seen before.

What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
A 50mm lens.

What date from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory?
12.12.12 (December 12, 2012) ~ I hosted a link-up party!

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I taught Mom how to add attachments to an email. It only took me 94 minutes!!!

What was your biggest failure?
I hit a brick wall in my personal life, but learned a lesson on boundaries.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
Mysterious backache is gone. I had a cold in April.

What was the best thing you bought?
I did a complete post about my Favorite Things of 2012 …. you should read it. I’m most excited about Eclos face cleanser, Sperry shoes, and BB cream.

Whose behavior merited celebration?
Husband for his patience and forgiveness.
Rev.L for her leadership, generosity, and friendship.

Where did most of your money go?
Groceries, utility bills, tithes, sushi, and mission trips.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Meeting DFW Bloggers, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan concert, going to Kentucky, and taking these photos

Husband and I went to Kentucky for a week. We spent most of our time in Webster County and celebrated Christmas in Louisville.

Yes. In the form of Garden & Gun (a magazine) and Bourbon & Boots (an online store).

What thing did you do that was meaningful to others?
Mission trip to Kentucky and Haiti

What were your favorite TV programs?
The Real Housewives, Top Chef, New Girl, Moonshiners and Duck Dynasty

What was the best book you read in 2012?
50 Shades trilogy

What was your greatest musical discovery?
Brantley Gilbert (Country Must Be Country Wide)

What did you want and get?
Living room furniture, Kindle Touch, Christmas wreath from Kentucky, an original print from Lisa DeNoia Photography, and Sperry shoes.

What did you want but did NOT get?
I applied for a trip to France with The United Methodist Church. Seeing that rejection letter hurt my soul. I think the decision-making committee made a huge mistake.

What was your favorite film of this year?
Lawless was a great movie about a moon-shining family in Franklin County, Virginia during Prohibition. Hatfields & McCoys, a mini-series on The History Channel was also excellent.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Celebrated Birthday #29 with friends at Blue Sake Sushi in Fort Worth.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
More rain … cooler summer temps.

What kept you sane?
Conversations with Husband, visits to Kentucky, drinking sweet tea and reading scandalous books about a gazillionaire who’s 50 shades of crazy.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Si Robertson — watching Duck Dynasty makes me happy, happy, happy.

What political issue stirred you the most?
President Obama reversed his decision about youth in agriculture.

Who did you miss?
Family in Kentucky.

Who was the best new person you met this year?
Jonas, a 38-year-old husband, father, and construction site foreman in Haiti.

Say no more often and prioritize relationships instead of to-do lists.
