I’m halfway through 2017 and every day seems like it’s going faster and faster. My intent to blog more often has fallen by the wayside. But, I’ve got six more months this year to try to turn the ship and actually accomplish some of the goals I set in January.


Use my Prayerful Planner every day
Decorate my office (paint, hang diploma, arrange bookshelves, etc.) – I finally, FINALLY painted my office. I chose Sherwin Williams’ Bravo Blue. It’s a lovely shade that’s relaxing, soothing, clean looking, and modern. I found the curtain panels (on sale at IKEA, yeah!!!!) that I’ll hang in place of closet doors. I’m with an industrial look with the curtain rod and bookshelves. I already have a long wood board that can be cut into smaller sections for shelves, but I need to decide if I want to use galvanized steel or PVC. It will be an easy decision: whichever is cheapest! Either way, I’ll spray paint the materials a dark brown or black. These are my inspiration:

Hire a housekeeper for deep cleaning (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12) – Miss A cleaned in the month of June, but it wasn’t at my house. Instead, she cleaned an RV camper trailer that belongs to a church member who very graciously allowed the church to use it for a while.
Unsubscribe from excessive blogs, websites, newsletters, etc.
Clean email inbox every Thursday
Organize photos and graphics on my laptop


Read the Bible in a year (using 5-day method and the Slacker’s Plan) – Lost cause, for real.
Write a prayer or reflection in a daily journal
Continue monthly tithe to church (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12) – Six down, six to go!
Begin an Inductive Bible Study
Attend a women’s conference FUMC Joshua hosted its first women’s conference June 2-3 and It. Was. Amazing. There are so many wonderful and powerful and incredible things that happened that weekend and I’m so proud of our church – THE PEOPLE – for showing up and working hard!

Host a dinner with friends or family (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12) I hosted a dinner party with several girlfriends at Silver Fox Steakhouse in Fort Worth on June 10. It was a beautiful night celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, new jobs, new homes, engagements, and our friendship.

Get to know our neighbors
Fun activity with girlfriends (1 2 3 4 5 6) – May 20: I didn’t know “attend a burlesque show” was on my bucket list, but Julie and I marked it off our lists. And you can never complain about good laughs and conversation.
Serve on a mission trip


Intentionally pray for Husband and Kamden
Attend opening day at The Depot We didn’t attend opening day at The Depot, but Kamden and I took YaYa to a baseball game June 26. The facility is beautiful and there’s not a bad seat in the house. Kamden got excited because they serve Chick-Fil-A sandwiches. He got to meet Spike, the Railroaders’ Mascot, and we also found our family’s brick in the entryway.

Host staff lunch in my home (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12) – May: no staff meeting in my home this month. June: no staff meeting at my house. 
Launch MOPS This is on hold for a while until we reconfigure our children and family ministry areas. With us having a preschool at FUMC Joshua, the target audience is obviously there but the concept and application is still being conceptualized. It’s hard to get something new going when old habits are so ingrained!
Create a communications plan with social media schedule

Create a continuing education and life skills program for adults
