The first two weeks of August included more travel than I have done in the last two years combined. My Internet BFF, Lisa let me crash at her place in Virginia Beach one weekend and I was in North Dakota to attend Jenny’s baby shower the second weekend.

Sadly, September began with the death of a very close friend, Brandon. Perhaps one day I’ll write a post about him, but it won’t be anytime soon. He served this country courageously, fought cancer like a beast, and loved his family fierce. He was also smitten with Kamden and for that I am thankful. I was honored to have been invited by Brandon’s family to Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery for his dignified military burial and, just like in Arlington, I felt like I was walking on holy ground …. because it is.

And, because God is faithful and good, just three hours after Brandon entered eternal life with his Savior in heaven, Levi Mark took his first breath. I’m overwhelmed with joy for Jenny and Mark and I’m already planning my next trip back to North Dakota get my hands on this handsome little guy!


Use my Prayerful Planner every day I may not decorate its pages beautifully or write long, eloquent prayers every single day, but I love this planner and would be lost without it. Things are really busy at church (in the greatest possible Kingdom-building way possible) so keeping myself organized is a must.
Decorate my office (paint, hang diploma, arrange bookshelves, etc.) – I’m still waiting for an ethernet cable to be relocated and my countertop (desk) to be installed, but what do you think of this bookshelf? The price has reduced so I need to decide soon!
Hire a housekeeper for deep cleaning (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12) – Miss A cleaned the last week of August but not in September. Oh well.

Begin an Inductive Bible Study I thought this was a lost cause but September 22 I began Bible Study Fellowship. Several people at church – men, women, and students – have talked about it for years and I finally took the plunge and attended my first session. It was great fun and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll be placed in a permanent small group soon so I can be an official part of the BSF community. The comprehensive, in-depth study is right up my alley and something I know I need and will enjoy thoroughly. We’re studying Romans in 2017-18.
