One of the many things I appreciate about blogging is the sense of community. It is this community — talented bloggers and committed readers — that I am asking for help.

You see, this September 22, my church is having its annual missions fundraiser. Each year, hundreds of people gather for this one-day event that includes silent and live auctions, games for children and youth, a variety of shoppes, and a barbecue lunch. It is our way of celebrating our past successes while preparing for our future in mission outreach.

  • LOCAL: food pantry, vacation Bible school, Upward soccer camp, school supplies drive, JUMPS pre-school, small group ministries, Sunday school classes
  • REGION: VBS at Bethlehem Center Community Center in Fort Worth, Great Day of Service in Dallas/Fort Worth, junior high youth mission trip to North Texas
  • DOMESTIC: senior high youth mission trip to Missouri and multi-generational mission trip to Kentucky
  • INTERNATIONAL: adult mission trips to Haiti

I am seeking donations in the form of goods, services, or gifts from bloggers, readers, and business owners for this event. To acknowledge your graciousness, the item(s) received will be labeled with your name and business or blog title.

The sky’s the limit, including new and unique:

  • homemade jewelry
  • greeting cards and stationery
  • books, cookbooks, movies, and music
  • apparel and shoes (all sizes)
  • Tervis® drinkware
  • hostess gifts and keepsakes
  • kitchen and baking tools
  • gift sets from Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Scentsy, etc.
  • home and holiday decor
  • quilts, blankets, burp clothes and cross-stitched items
  • a “pantry” of canned vegetables and fruit preserves
  • a “bakery” with fresh cakes, cookies, pies, and other sweet treats
  • sports memorabilia
  • tickets to special events
  • { new in 2012 } a shoppe for items inspired by Pinterest

Gift cards to retail (such as Target, Starbucks, or Barnes & Noble) and online stores (such as Etsy, Groupon, SpaFinder, or Amazon) are always great gifts. Also, consider a gift certificate to a popular restaurant or local business or a magazine subscription.

In addition to promoting your business or blog title, the item(s) you provide will be labeled at the fundraiser. I will also personally write a thank-you note *AND* include pictures and your web links in a future blog post.

Whether or not you are able to contribute to this cause, please know how much I appreciate your continued support of this blog and my efforts in the mission field. In October, I will depart for my second consecutive trip to Port-au-Prince, Haiti for an adult mission trip. Whether we serve in our local community or travel abroad, please remember that monies raised at this annual fundraiser directly benefit these mission efforts.
