Sigh. My baby boy turned chunky monkey is now a mini man. How did he get to be 18 months old so quickly? Where did time go?
Kamden has gone from this …
To this …
And this …
And now this …
GROWING // Kamden weighs 26lbs and stands 33.5 inches tall.
EATING // Kamden has drastically improved his eating habits since he turned a year old, solid foods in particular. He weaned himself from bottles at 13 months and stopped drinking cow’s milk at 14 months. He only wants water and I’m okay with that since he eats a pretty balanced diet for nutrients. I also consider it a compliment that he really enjoyed Mama’s milk for 14 months and wouldn’t settle for the moo variety! Like Daddy, he loves nuggets from Chick-Fil-A and has never met a piece of bread he didn’t like. To please Mom, Kamden eats homemade pizza, tacos, spaghetti, green beans, rice, beans, scrambled eggs, pancakes and waffles (no syrup!), yogurt, cheese, shrimp, salmon, tilapia, roast beef, watermelon, bananas, blueberries, grapes, cantaloupe, strawberries, pears, kiwi, and avocado. Just to prove I’m not a #CrunchyMom, Kamden regularly eats fruit bars (Plum Organic, bonus points!), Goldfish crackers, animal crackers, and Teddy Grahams. He’s also a big fan of Auntie Celeste’s homemade granola bars. 🙂
SLEEPING // Like a champ! Kamden is such an amazing, consistent sleeper and I am so grateful we endured the first few weeks and months developing a routine that is now easy-peasy whether we’re at home, the in-laws’, or in a hotel room. Religiously, Kamden sleeps two to three hours in the afternoon (between 1 and 4pm) and 9:30pm-8:30am. This summer, though, I’ll have to adjust his daytime schedule/routine a bit to accommodate for an earlier naptime, which will result in an earlier bedtime because he starts preschool in August!
DOING // Kamden is such a mover and a shaker, literally. He loves books, cars and trucks, bubbles, being outside, waving at birds and trains, bouncing golf balls on the concrete, listening and dancing to music, riding on the lawn mower or tractor with Daddy, and walks around the city park with Mommy. We go to my gym nearly every morning (or afternoon, depending on class schedule) and he enjoys being with other children and playing. He tends to play with the car and track course or the mini tools. I’ve also seen him around the kitchenette set, which makes me think he’ll enjoy cooking with me! Speaking of the kitchen, he loves opening cabinet doors and emptying out baking dishes, cookie sheets, and pots and pans. I have found little treasures such as toy cars in the bottom of a roasting pan and foam numbers in the washing machine. He also helps me unload the dishwasher by grabbing his smaller plates and colorful utensils. Kamden is a gadget guy and loves to press buttons: telephones, TV remotes, and garage door opener. He’s getting better at pushing his plate of food away when he’s done eating rather than throwing it on the floor – aye ai ai.
WEARING // Because he has grown up instead of out, opposite of his infant days, Kamden is once again wearing 24 month to 4T clothes, depending on the brand. I sold or gave away a lot of his clothes but, thankfully, I kept some of the larger pieces and he’s wearing them now. I don’t remember the last clothes I bought for him. I think his feet are huge, he wears size 7 and they are getting a wee tight. He has a pair of sandals, athletic shoes, and rain boots. I need to find his new swim trunks and rash guard shirt (I bought them before Easter and haven’t seen them since – whoops!) and buy a sun hat and sunglasses for him to wear at the pool this summer!
LOVING // Being outside with Daddy; reading books with Mommy; swimming and bath time; playing peek-a-boo; and riding in the car.
LOATHING // Diapers changes have become an Olympic sport only because Kamden doesn’t like to be still longer than two seconds. But the one thing he loathes more than anything in the world is coming in the house when he’d rather be outside. The boy can be hot, tired, hungry, or covered in mud and he wants to be in the truck, on the tractor, around the rock pile, in the yard, on the porch, in his scooter, or on the mower.
Baby Dinosaur and Daddy (13 months)
Kamden visited the Perot Music in Dallas with Aunt Georgia (13 months)
Kamden saw snow for the first time in February! He looked a bit strange in several t-shirts layered beneath two sweaters and a kitchen towel for a scarf … hey, we don’t experience that kind of winter weather in Texas often – give me a break. 🙂 (14 months)
Easter at the grandparent’s house meant hunting Easter eggs with Papaw and finding the giant golden egg with $5 and a toy car inside. And Mamaw snuck in a few Snickers bars for Daddy! (15 months)
Bluebonnet Festival in Ennis, Texas (16 months)
Mommy & Me photo session for Mother’s Day (17 months)
Milk Donor Appreciation Day at the Fort Worth Zoo (17 months)
Awards Day at The Little Gym (17 months)
Kamden had a double ear infection, the Hand/Foot/Mouth virus, and two molars cutting through his gums all at once. Needless to say, it was the trifecta of feeling miserable. I enjoyed the extra cuddles though. (18 months)
