Monday Musings & Rubber Boots

Every Monday, I publish whatever is on my mind -consider it a smorgasbord of thoughts and randomness- as a way to clear my head and prepare for the next week ahead. By doing so, I hope to calm the chaos and organize the scattered. Cheers to 2015 and blessings to you!

monday musings

Nana C and Grandaddy (my parents) safely arrived late last night. It took every ounce of self-control for my mom not to sneak in Kamden’s bedroom but I’m sure she’ll be standing at his door this morning waiting for him to wake up. I’ve been telling him for days, preparing him, for the excessive kisses he’s about to get from Nana!

We had another uneventful weekend where we stayed home and watched it rain … again. But, not to let the rain damper our spirits, Kamden is now an official Hutchison because he has his own pair of boots. Of course, because he is a true Hutchison, he wears said boots with shorts and a t-shirt. That is common law in these parts.

Also common law, when you are outside and wearing your new rubber boots, is finding the greatest stick ever and poking at tennis balls. Who needs fancy and expensive toys or electronics when you have the great outdoors and balls from the dollar bin at Goodwill?

Finally, when you ask your 17-month-old toddler if he likes his new boots, he runs toward you and your camera with the biggest and greatest “cheeeeeeese” grin. My cup runneth over for this here child of mine.

Finally, because today is Memorial Day and I am forever grateful to the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation and protecting my personal freedoms, I say, “Thank you.”

In between your family barbeques and holiday shopping, please take a moment to remember the true heroes and reason for Memorial Day.
