January – organize a group to read Wonderstruck by Margaret Feinberg Purchased the DVD study.

February – edit photos from Holy Land Done. create, order, and mail a secret project Recipients should receive their gift before Easter (March 31). finalize Wonderstruck small group EPIC FAIL. schedule a paid photo shoot FAIL.

March – share Holy Land photos Partially done. Annual well-woman exam Done. Annual eye doctor (new contacts + eyeglass fitting) FAIL. Begin Wonderstruck small group FAIL. Schedule another Photoshop lesson with Sean FAIL. Schedule/Shoot/Edit/Deliver photos to clients Somewhat successful in that I delivered photos to a group of young ladies, but also somewhat of a FAILURE because I have yet to schedule another shoot with anyone. Mail the “secret project” by March 20 SUCCESS. I created an Easter card with photos from the Holy Land. I did not send Christmas cards last year, so this was my attempt to redeem brownie points. If you received my Easter card, did you like it?

April – correctly choose the winner of the men’s NCAA basketball tournament SUCCESS! The University of Louisville men’s basketball team, coached by Rick Pitino, won the 2013 NCAA Championship. survive STAAR testing days at school Barely, but I did it. practice Photoshop Epic fail. host DFW Bloggers’ Spring Meet Up HUGE SUCCESS and schedule a trip someplace Failed.

May – Honestly, I just want to fast forward to June. My sentiments exactly! I survived the month of May (barely) and school wasn’t all that bad. STAAR testing was successful (for the most part) and the majority of my students passed and will go to high school next year. An episode with gall stones was a complete surprise that knocked me for a loop, but I’m thankful to Husband and the hospital staff for taking such good care of me.

June – End the school year as seamless as possible — I had an interview for a 6th grade ELA position, but didn’t get the job. Unfortunately. attend Annual Conference in Fort Worth — DONE visit family in Kentucky — Husband and I went to Kentucky to tell everybody our “big secret” June 27-30 and stay relatively healthy and well — work in progress

July – Create an online baby registry. I’m registered at Babies R Us and, both offer free or discounted shipping options. Dust off the Nikon camera and take some pictures. Took pictures of Kirsten on the campus of Texas Christian University with her newly-acquired black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Clear out the front bedroom and make room for nursery gear. The front bedroom is NOT ready for the baby gear, but it’s a work in process. I’ve been on a cleaning spree the past couple of days, perhaps this is what “nesting” is all about!

August – Exercise 5 days a week This is a success as I’m going to water aerobics every morning and either walking or swimming in the evening. Lose 8 pounds by September 1. EPIC FAIL — I actually gained two pounds since my last doctor’s appointment. I’m disappointed but I realize I’m growing in all the right places for a healthy, happy baby and pregnancy! Assemble Baby K’s crib. FAIL — the crib and mattress are still in their shipping boxes in the dining room; the dresser is also in its box and sitting in the garage. Find an outfit to wear to baby showers in Kentucky. I have a dress but I’m keeping my fingers crossed it still fits by the end of the month.

September – Continue exercise regimen and try at least one new group class. SUCCESS! Along with water aerobics, I’m also doing yoga at least twice a week and I tried two new classes: Zumba and Body Pump. I wasn’t a good dancer before getting pregnant, but Zumba is fun and Baby K seems to like it — he’s very active afterwards! Finish cleaning windows and blinds throughout the house. SUCCESS! Hang new curtains in each bedroom. FAIL … curtains are still waiting to be hung. Go to consignment sales. BIG SUCCESS at Just Between Friends and Rhea Lana — check out this post! Mail girls’ night out invitations. Success — and RSVP’s are slowly coming in. I’m looking forward to this get-together with my favorite ladies. Get ready for Kentucky trip. Success — I’m getting lucky in Kentucky, with baby shower gifts that is!!!!!!

October – For the love of all things good, lovely, and holy, I want to get curtains hung in the bedrooms and Baby K’s furniture assembled and placed in his room. Curtains have been hung in the nursery and the furniture is assembled. Send thank-you cards for baby shower gifts received at showers in Kentucky. Still working on thank-you cards … we got a LOT of goodies from friends and family!!!!! Go to the gym at least four days a week. Somewhat successful, though Doctor W wants me to slow down for the sake of Baby K and my own health. I had to stay out of the pool while I was recovering from allergies, which lasted two weeks. Needless to say, I haven’t been as active lately but I’m still losing weight.

November – Finish hanging curtains, for real this time. Tour hospital and attend a breastfeeding class. Pack our hospital bags. Go to the gym at least two days a week. Mail thank-you cards for baby shower gifts.

December –

Thanks, Marilyn. I’ve not accomplished everything I wanted to this year, but my life has been HUGELY BLESSED with the “surprise” of our Baby K. It’s definitely worth it. =)

Wowza! That was quite a list, but I’d say you’ve accomplished at least 50%. There’s still time. Right?? 🙂

Thank you! I had my sights set really high and then our “SURPRISE” (a.k.a Baby K’s announcement) changed a few plans and priorities. But he’s totally worth it and I can’t wait to meet him in December. =)

Amazing list! A lot to accomplish! Looks like you’ve done pretty dang good so far. I am going to need to do this for the new year!

    • Nicole November 5, 2013 at 3:12 pm - Reply

Thanks, Taylor! You should DEFINITELY create a resolution/goal list for 2014. Plus, if you’re interested, I also write/publish/share a “Year in Review” post in December that you should do too. I’m making it a link-up this year for other bloggers to join the fun. If you want the questionnaire, let me know!!!!!

You’re doing a great job working through your very comprehensive list. 🙂

Thanks, Julie! I set my goals pretty high for 2013, never imagining we’d be welcoming our son by Christmas. Life is definitely exciting. =)
