Is there anything Reba McEntire can not do?
She’s most widely known as the Queen of Country but the Oklahoma-native is also succeeding as a producer, clothing designer, author, and actress. I think her new sitcom, Malibu Country is another nod to her incredible talent.
I watched the premiere of Malibu Country and enjoyed the light-hearted sitcom.
After discovering her husband is cheating, Reba leaves Nashville with her mother and two teenagers for Malibu, hoping to restart her abandoned music career. When they arrive at their beach-side residence, the fun begins.
Reba’s son (Cash) discovers he’s not the coolest, or cutest, guy in high school anymore.
June, Reba’s daughter, discovers, to her mother’s dismay, the boy next door (Hudson).
Hudson’s step-mother, Kimberly, is the stereotypical Hollywood housewife: high stilettos, Botox-injected boobs, designer clothes, and dripping in diamonds with Pinot in hand.
Then there’s Geoffrey, the flamboyant record label assistant who’s going to help Reba score big in the music industry again. He’s quite fabulous, if you know what I mean.
If all of this isn’t enough, Reba’s mother, Lillie Mae, discovers medical marijuana.
I haven’t been this excited about Friday nights since T.G.I.F. in the mid-90s. If you watched Full House, Family Matters, and Dinosaurs, consider yourself a cool kid.
Malibu Country airs every Friday at 7:30pm (Central) on ABC.
