Hello, Three 31 loyals! I’m Julie and you can find me at A Beautiful Day. I am mom to one amazing tween son and two rather rowdy fur babies. I love my beautiful life!
Can’t really say that my blog has a theme, as I am pretty much all over the place. But I try my best to keep things real the best way I can. I am thrilled to be guest posting here today while Nicole is doing God’s work in Haiti. I would love to have such an experience someday! Honestly, people, I am *NERVOUS* to be here. I am kind of lacking in the witty department and when I am looking for my daily dose of wit or a fit of laughter that threatens to cause me to pee my pants, Nicole’s blog is the first place I stop!
When I first started blogging, I really didn’t give much thought to the actual social aspect of the blogging community. I spent a considerable amount of time deciding whether or not I really wanted to jump in and commit to a blog. Needless to say, I jumped in but I was clueless. However, the longer that I blogged and the more I put myself out there, I started meeting really incredible people. Most specifically, I’ve met women who are warm, kind, compassionate, and genuine. Some I have been oh-so-fortunate to meet in person while others I’ve corresponded with via blog comments and emails. No matter the line of communication, I have been blessed in ways that never would have happened had it not been for starting my little ole blog.
On the flip side, there are storms and mayhem. Because, let’s be honest, there is a flip side to EVERY story. I truly believe that bloggers have a responsibility to be courteous to one another. I am not naive enough to believe that just because we all have blogging in common we will mesh like peas in a pod. We are naturally drawn towards some bloggers while others are not “our cup of tea.” That is normal and completely expected.
Last week, three blogs I read religiously have posts about another blogger lashing out at them for decisions that they have made and posted on their own blogs. I don’t know about you, but my blog is MY place to post what I am feeling and, occasionally, the place where I go to vent. As bloggers, we willingly open ourselves up and put the good and bad out for all to read — some more than others. I do not, however, feel that gives other people the right to make cruel remarks or pass judgement. If you are offended by something written, walk away. Or stop following that particular blog. If you disagree with a choice someone has made and you feel that strongly about it, privately email them and RESPECTFULLY state your opinion or, again, walk away. After all, there are lots of blogs in the sea! There is a lot of merit in the old saying, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
What I am trying to say is let’s respect and support each other. Let’s NOT tear each apart or bring one another down. We are better than that ….. we ARE better than that!
I love the manifestos from The Smile Collective, and I thought that this one couldn’t be more fitting:
I hope you will visit my blog, A Beautiful Day, and say hello. I love meeting fellow bloggers and finding new stories to follow.
Nicole, thank you so much for turning over your blog — Three 31 — to little old me. I am thrilled and hope that I have provided an insightful post for your followers. I pray that you are having a safe and enlightening trip to Haiti and can’t wait to have you back in the U.S. to hear all about your journey!!!!!!
