Elizabeth (from Defying Gravity) and Amanda (from For Love of a Cupcake) have graciously created a link-up called Postcard Pretties and it’s FINALLY time to reveal the postcard that I received from my pen-pal and partner, Kristen (from Few of My Favorite Things).
Kristen is a sweet-sweet soul who’s been studying her little tush off *FOR-EH-VAH* preparing for a license in occupational therapy. I felt so sorry for her earlier this week. She was super-duper prepared for her exam and when she arrived at the testing location, they greeted her at the door with an unwelcome message: “Umm, sorry, but our computers crashed and the test will not take place today.”
Can you imagine?! Oh my word, I felt so bad for the poor girl!!!!!! Anyway, I know she’s going to ace that test regardless of when she takes it but until then, say hello to my new friend *AND* check out this really cute Texas-themed postcard she sent me for our exchange:
Kristen lives in McKinney, a suburb of Dallas located in the northeast corner of Collin County. In the big scheme of things, we’re basically neighbors. The 80 miles that separate us are nothing when you consider the size of Texas. I mean, it’s basically a hop, skip, and a jump from here to there. Basically. And hours of traffic.
FOR THE RECORD ………… I was trying to be creative and find a place for this postcard outside so I could take a picture. Well, the wind was blowing at least 85,053 mph (Hurricane Issac was in the Caribbean, but his winds were reaching into North Texas) and I was chasing this piece of card-stock across the yard and back again. Thank goodness the neighbors — or Husband — did not witness this outlandish spectacle. Needless to say, it was just me and a chip-clip trying to take pictures. Oh, and a swarm of bees were flying over my head. Later, I found their nest in this evergreen tree. Seriously, never a dull moment ’round here!!!!!!
And, I blurred my address for one reason and one reason only: I’m afraid some of y’all will decide to “surprise” me by showing up at my house and it won’t be clean. I mean, the dishwasher is clean but for some reason, the door was wide open when I left this morning. And my utility room looks like a bomb exploded inside. And our bed is unmade. And there may be some whitey-tighties on the floor in the bathroom. I’m just sayin’. Please don’t surprise me by showing up unannounced. Please.
Hey Nicole! Hope you are having a wonderful week so far! This postcard didn’t have to go too far since you are a Texas girl yourself. You should know that this post card comes from the best salsa shop in North Texas. And I have to brag, McKinney was just ranked #2 out of 100 best places to live! Hope you can visit this wonderful town if you haven’t already. Have a blessed day, Kristen
Isn’t she just the cutest, sweetest, most thoughtful person you’ve ever met? Bless her lil’ heart. I want to hug her neck, but I don’t know if she’s a touchy-feely-huggin’ person. If she isn’t, and I were to come barreling with “the girls” I know I would cause her to have a coronary. There’s a chance that we’ll get to meet in person (don’t worry, Mom, I think I’ll be OK) next weekend at a Texas Bloggers Meet-up. Yeah, this one. Cool, huh?!
Thank you, Elizabeth and Amanda, for hosting this fun postcard exchange.
Thank you, Kristen, for sending me this cute postcard. It is now proudly displayed on the fridge. You’re officially part of the family now. Anybody that’s on the fridge is family. You’re invited to Thanksgiving. We’ll even let you sit at the big kids’ table.
Happy Friday, to all y’all!!!
